Persian Restaurant in East London — Google Ads Campaign Setup

A Persian restaurant in East London wanted to attract both new English-speaking customers and members of the local Iranian community. This case study documents the bilingual Google Ads campaign structure we designed and launched.

Google Ads results depend heavily on budget, competition, landing page quality, and ongoing optimisation. This case study documents campaign structure and early setup — not ongoing ROAS figures, which would be misleading to publish at the four-week stage.

The Problem

Shahrzad's Persian restaurant had been open for two years in East London. She had a strong reputation within the local Iranian diaspora community via WhatsApp group recommendations, but was invisible to the far larger pool of non-Iranian Londoners searching "Persian restaurant near me" or "Iranian food East London".

She also wanted to capture the evening and weekend "date night" search intent — a different query pattern from lunchtime or takeaway searches. Her budget was modest: £400/month in media spend, plus Tablighyar's management fee.

Campaign Strategy

We designed a two-campaign structure. Campaign 1 targeted English queries: "Persian restaurant East London", "Iranian restaurant [borough names]", "best Persian food near me", "lamb koresh London" — capturing high-intent local searches. Campaign 2 targeted Farsi-influenced queries: "رستوران ایرانی لندن", "غذای ایرانی شرق لندن" — smaller volume but highly qualified traffic from the diaspora.

For the landing page, we worked with the client to create a single dedicated page with the menu in both English and Persian, high-quality food photography, opening hours, and a click-to-call button — because the existing homepage had poor mobile load speed and no clear call to action.

Ad Copy

English ads led with differentiating claims that were actually verifiable: "Award-Winning Persian Cuisine · Lamb Koresh & Zereshk Polo · Book a Table Online". No generic superlatives like "Best in London" — Google disapproves these and they perform poorly anyway.

Farsi ads used natural Persian copy rather than machine-translated English: emphasising the home-cooked feel and community atmosphere that resonates with the diaspora audience.

Setup & Launch

Campaign setup included: Google Ads account structure, keyword match type selection (exact + phrase, avoiding broad match at this budget level), negative keyword list (excluding "recipe", "how to make", "Persian food delivery" — outside her service scope), ad group organisation, ad copy A/B testing setup, conversion tracking via Google Tag Manager for table reservation clicks and phone call clicks.

We launched on a Thursday evening — highest-intent restaurant search day in London — with manual CPC bidding to maintain control while gathering initial data.

Early Signals

In the first four weeks, the campaign showed strong click-through rates on the exact-match English terms. The Farsi campaign had lower volume but a noticeably higher conversion rate for reservation clicks — exactly as expected, since searchers using Farsi queries are specifically looking for Persian food rather than browsing broadly.

We are not publishing click volumes or cost-per-click figures at this stage because they fluctuate significantly and would be misleading to present as benchmarks. The full three-month performance review will include anonymised Search Console and Google Ads data.
